Men's Volleyball Takes Down Limestone in First Conference Game

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. - The Emmanuel College Men's Volleyball Team took on Limestone College for Wednesday night's game. After dropping sets one and four, the Lions were able to power through to take the match 3-2.

Set one started off rough for the Lions who were unable to capitalize on their offense due to several service errors. While Emmanuel had 6 More kills than their opponent, 12 service errors allowed Limestone to take set one 28-26.

The second set saw a rejuvenated Lions step onto the court. After coming back from a 4 Point deficit, the Lions gained some momentum and had several big kills from #9 Ackeem West. The Lions rallied through the rest of the set to take the game 25-18.

Set three saw several lead changes. At 19-18 the Lions began to make their final run. A big kill from #1 Aleksa Lakic allowed the Lions to edge out the Saints and take the third set 25-23.

In the fourth set the Saints gained a 5 point lead, forcing the Lions to call a timeout at 10-15. After stepping back on the court #14 Alejandro Robles had a big solo block. #6 Don Thompson and #11 Manuel Melenciano followed with two consecutive blocks of their own. With a little momentum on their side the Lions narrowed the deficit to only two points. Unfortunately the Lions couldn't regain the lead and the Saints would go on to close out the fourth set 25-21.

In the final set Emmanuel grabbed an early lead and never let up. The Lions closed out the set 15-9 for their biggest win of the season.

The next game for the Lions will be on Friday when they Travel to North Carolina to take on Conference Opponent Mount Olive.
