Emmanuel and Greenville were well matched for this third-place match. The Lady Lions started down against Greenville early in the first quarter. Emily Dreslinski scored the first points to get the ladies on the board and Hanna Grogan helped regain the lead from Greenville, 11-9. The ladies went into the second quarter up by two, 18-16. After a mostly tied second quarter, Emmanuel broke away with the lead, 38-28, to end the half.
Emmanuel maintained their lead for most of the third quarter, until their defense gave way for Greenville to come back by the end of the third. The Lions gained a 12-point lead to start the third, dwindling to a 10-point lead, then making their way to only a 3-point lead. Greenville regained the lead with five minutes left in the fourth, 61-60. Taylor Delasbour snagged two free throws and Emily Dreslinski added two off a steal by Lochlain Corliss. Emmanuel was back up by three and kept climbing. Greenville fouled three more times allowing Emmanuel to gain points. The Lions almost lost the game but pushed past Greenville to take home third place in the tournament.
Emmanuel Lady Lions will end their season with an overall record of 18-12.
Head Coach, Mike Bona, looks back on the season and says, "Mikayla Trombley was selected on the First Team All-American and Junior Taylor Delasbour made the All-National Tournament Team. It has been an absolute joy to be this teams coach." Bona will lose three seniors this year and says, "We are going to miss our seniors Avery Scarbrough, Mikayla Trombley, and Megan Bridges but know with their work ethics and giving spirits that they are going to be Champions in life as they were on our team. Go Lady Lions." Bona is losing a good crew this year, but the team has a bright future ahead.
