FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - The Emmanuel College women's basketball team fell to conference opponent Limestone College on Saturday night, 74-70. This loss brings the Lions record to 8-5 overall, 3-3 conference.
A strong showing from Sophomore Hanna Grogan in the first quarter helped Emmanuel grab an early lead. Senior Lochlain Corliss added 8 more points in the first half, helping Emmanuel secure a ten point lead. The Saints battled back late in the second quarter, putting up 16 points to Emmanuel's 3. Limestones Lynadia Whiting rallied with 10 points in the quarter to reduce their deficit to just four points at the end of the half.
The Saints carried the momentum over into the third quarter, adding 21 more points to the board. The Lions struggled shooting 27.8% from the field and gave up their lead. Emmanuel improved their shooting in the fourth quarter to outscore their opponent 18-17. Despite a stronger performance, the Lions were unable to overcome their deficit and fell 74-70.
Grogan led the Lions with 15 points, Junior Ajah Taylor tallied 9 rebounds.
Next up for the Lions is a conference match against Lees-McRae in Banner Elk, North Carolina on Saturday, January 12th.
