FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - The Emmanuel College women's basketball team defeated conference opponent North Greenville on Monday night, 87-80 in the Williamson Basketball Arena. This win brings the Lions series record agains NGU to 1-1 after narrowly losing to them on December 12th. The Ladies now have a record of 12-5 overall, 7-3 conference.
Despite the Lions 7 point victory, the Crusaders battled the entire night, forcing 14 different lead changes. Emmanuel got on top in the first quarter behind 7 points from Senior Lochlain Corliss and 6 points from Sophomore Hanna Grogan.
The Crusaders began putting pressure on the Lions in the second quarter, outscoring them 24 to 18. Haylee Luttrell went 6 for 6, including 2 shots from behind the three point line to total 16 points in the half. By halftime the Crusaders dug themselves out of their deficit to tie up the Lions 36-36.
The Crusaders continued battling for the lead until a final three-pointer from Sophomore Breanna Locke stole it back one last time. Emmanuel remained steady throughout the rest of the game, finishing with a 50.8% field goal percentage en route to their 87-80 win.
The Lions will wrap up their string of home games on Saturday, January 26th against King University at 2:00pm.
