Greenville, S.C.---Emmanuel College's Ellie Chapman has been named to the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) All-American team for the 2014 season.
Chapman, a junior defender from Adelaide, South Australia, was named to the NCCAA All-American Third Team. This marks just second time in the 13-year history of the Emmanuel College women's soccer program that a player has earned All-American soccer honors (Alexis Schultz was an All-American Honorable Mention in 2011).
Chapman started all 19 games this season for the Lions and was named to the NCCAA South All-Region team for the second consecutive season. In August, Chapman scored the first goal of the new NCAA era for the program. In the classroom, she was named to the NCCAA Scholar team roster as well as the NCAA Conference Carolinas All-Academic team.
"This is another milestone moment in our program and I am very happy for Ellie," said head coach Forrest Wimberly. "There are just three defenders named to each of the three All-American teams, so this honor puts Ellie in very elite company as one of the top nine defenders in the nation. Add all the academic honors as well as the first goal in the NCAA era for Emmanuel, and you can definitely look back on this fall as one of those special seasons for Ellie."
The Lions are currently in the off season and will return to the field in February.
