FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga.---Former Emmanuel College women's soccer standout Liene Vaciete has been named to the senior Latvian Women's National Soccer team ahead of the upcoming EURO 2017 qualifying matches. LV wrapped up her EC career this past fall graduating in December before returning home to Riga, Latvia in December.

LV will be playing in a warm-up tournament in Cyprus from March 12-18 in preparations for the EURO qualifiers that begin April 4.

In the Cyprus Cup, the Latvian side will play in Group A against Greece, Lebanon, and United Arab Emirates. The tournament begins on March 12 versus UAE followed by a meeting with Lebanon on March 13 before ending with Greece on March 15. The winner of Group A will face the winner of Group B (Cyprus, Bahrain, Qatar, and Malta) in the finals on March 18.

A solid performance in Cyprus will find LV back in the side as they open EURO 2017 qualifying playing Luxembourg on April 4 in Moldova. A meeting with the hosts Moldova follows on April 6 with the final group game on April 9 versus fellow Baltic neighbors Lithuania. Latvia advances into the next stage of EURO 2017 qualification by winning their group.

LV last played for Latvia in the summer 2014 Baltic Cup where she saw action versus Lithuania.

In three seasons for the Lions, LV provided some historic goals including the 2013 game-winner over NCAA D I SC State University as well as the 2014 senior night, overtime, game-winning goal over Palm Beach Atlantic University. Both goals marked the first –ever win over an NCAA D I opponent as well as the first-ever win over NCAA D II Palm Beach Atlantic.
