Lady Lions Tennis Team defeats Saints for 6th Straight Win!

Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel College Women's Tennis Team continue their Spring Season today at another home event, facing the Limestone College Saints.

Looking to maintain their successful season, the Lady Lions started with two great wins in doubles today. First, with the undefeated duo Cipriano / Silva, who kept their teamwork at the highest level and faced no issues to get an 8-1 win on court #3. In the meantime Raich / Kiderlen earned a 6th straight victory in a very well played match by 8-3 on court #2.

With an important 2-1 lead at the start of singles play, Emmanuel was confident to get at least three more to clinch the overall match. The third point came from the Junior, Katharina Kiderlen, who proved to be very consistent from the baseline in the first set, especially during key points, before dominating her opponent in the second set, winning by 6-4 6-1 on court #5. Kiderlen's doubles partner, Maria Raich, celebrated her 20th birthday with an outstanding performance on court #3. With a very solid baseline game, Raich was able to move her opponent from side to side and kept the pressure at every point from start to finish to earn a 6-4 6-4 victory. The clincher came from the Junior, Fantine Botella, who played an aggressive match with some ups and downs. Botella faced an opponent who was not looking to get into long rallies, but with some well placed shots and a couple of key breaks, Fantine gave EC a fifth point by 6-3 7-5 on court #1. Emmanuel also won two extra victories today. The Sophomore, Victoria Silva, had to come back from a 4-1 before finding a solution and her best tennis to defeat her opponent by a tight 8-6 on court #4. Silva remains undefeated this season in both singles and doubles matches against Conference Carolinas opponents! Lastly, the Junior Chloe O'Connor played at a great level today to dispatch her foe by 8-4 on court #6.

The Lady Lions Tennis Team will not have a long rest since they will have to come back to the home courts again this Tuesday, now facing the Converse College Valkyries! First serve is scheduled for 3PM!
