EC Women's Tennis Sweeps Lees McRae for 8th Straight Win!

Banner Elk, NC – The Emmanuel College Women's Tennis Team continue their Spring Season today, now on the road, at the home courts of the Lees McRae Bobcats!

With the goal of keeping the winning streak alive, Emmanuel was looking to do as much damage as possible in doubles play, and everything went well for the Lady Lions this afternoon!

Never wasting too much time on the baseline, the Silva / Cipriano were just doing everything well to give EC a first point with an 8-2 victory, remaining undefeated in conference play this season. On court #2 Raich / Kiderlen kept the pressure going from start to finish and with some smart plays, the duo was able to snag a 8-5 victory. On court #1 Botella / O'Connor had a complicated start but after a few games, they were able to find their way around the court and their best tennis to get a third possible point with an 8-4 win.

For the third time in a row, EC was ahead 3-0 after doubles, which makes things much less complicated for singles play. Even though Emmanuel only needed two more wins to get the overall win, the mighty Lady Lions swept the Bobcats today. First, Maria Raich just punished her opponents with fast forehands from the baseline since the first point for a dominating 6-0 6-1 win. Next, Katharina Kiderlen was just too aggressive today but also mixing some deep and low slices for a quick 6-2 6-1 victory. Not too long after it was the Junior, Fantine Botella on court #1, who had to come back from a dangerous set point before cruising for a victory that came by 7-6 6-1. On court #2, Pearllan Cipriano was switching gears by coming up to the net as often as possible, and the plan worked since she had no problems throughout the match with a 6-2 6-0 win. The last two points for EC came from Victoria Silva, who is still undefeated in conference play, by a solid 8-1 on court #4 and then the sole Senior of the EC Team this season, Abi Muesse, on court #6, who dropped the first game before winning 8 straight ones for an 8-1 score.

The Lady Lions Tennis Team will not have a long rest since they will have to come back to the road again tomorrow, now facing the King University Tornado! First serve is scheduled for 11AM!
